TEHRAN (NIPNA) -- Sabalan Petrochemical Plant, a producer of methanol, will be officially commissioned in the coming weeks as one of the three petrochemical projects of Sepehr Energy Holding, with a capacity of 1,650,000 tons per year.

According to Sepehr Energy Holding, Behrouz Abbasi, the holding’s CEO, said: "By exploiting the Sabalan Petrochemical project, direct employment for 300 people will be provided."

"Sabalan Project is one of the plans designated for the second leap of Iran's petrochemical industry and is ready to be exploited despite the fact that it faced many problems after the imposition of oppressive sanctions on the country,” the official said.

“Fortunately, with timely planning and tapping the capabilities of local engineers and manufacturers, not only the project did not stop, but also the catalysts required for this petrochemical plant were supplied locally for the first time,” he went on to add.

Sabalan, Dena and Siraf petrochemical plants are subsidiaries of Sepehr Energy Holding and are expected to enhance Iran's methanol production capacity by 5 million tons after full operation.
