Iran, Oman signed Oil MoU

TEHRAN (Shana) -- Iranian Minister of Petroleum Javad Owji said Iran and Oman have signed a memorandum of understanding on upstream and downstream oil cooperation.

Speaking on the sidelines of a meeting with Salim Bin Nasser Al-Aufi, Oman's Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources, Mr. Owji told reporters: "Today, in continuation of the previous negotiations on the development of oil and gas fields, investment in the field of petrochemicals and petro-refineries, and the export of petroleum and petrochemical products, an agreement was signed between the national oil companies of the two countries.”

He pointed out that with the finalization of the negotiations between the two countries, “we will see an increase in the export of petrochemical and oil products to this country, considering the existing capacity in the country.”

He further said: “As the negotiations become more serious, more details of oil and gas cooperation with Oman will be informed to the nation.”

The oil minister stated: “In the 13th administration, there is a special attention to all-round development with the neighbors, especially Oman, and in the new period, efforts are being made to increase these cooperations, especially in the field of oil and gas.”
