TEHRAN (NIPNA) -- Kimia Group's Chairman of the Board of Directors, Seyyed Mohammad Reza Mousavi, emphasized the importance of completing the petrochemical value chain to increase the Gross National Product (GDP) by connecting it to the pharmaceutical value chain.

Mousavi announced that Kimia Group has produced the leading ingredient of acetaminophen and is among the top five countries in the world in the production of this product, with the potential to compete in global markets.

Speaking at the 14th Iran Petrochemical Forum, Mousavi highlighted the necessity of downstream companies establishing chains in the pharmaceutical sector to complete the value chain.

He said that as we move away from selling raw products and focus on higher added-value production, the GDP will increase.

Mousavi added that Kimia Group is completing the pharmaceutical value chain by building a factory to produce acetaminophen products and adding codeine to the final acetaminophen product, which adds 100 times more value.

He stated that Kimia Group produces the metformin pharmaceutical group and provides it to pharmaceutical companies and factories, adding that acquiring the metformin production chain is also on their agenda.
