TEHRAN (NIPNA) -- The ceremonial groundbreaking for the inaugural phase of Fanavaran's cutting-edge petro-olefin project marked the initiation of storage tank construction.

According to Fanavaran Petrochemical Company, the first phase of operational activities for the Petro-Olefin project has begun, focusing on the construction of methanol storage tanks.

The Petro-Olefin project's operational trajectory gained momentum following the signing of pertinent memorandums of understanding with a Chinese consortium to secure licenses for methanol, ethylene, polypropylene (PP), and high-density polyethylene (HDPE) units.

The maiden phase of this undertaking, aimed at establishing storage facilities, commenced last week with the symbolic groundbreaking ceremony, following the completion of groundwork reinforcement and surrounding road infrastructure development.

Mohammad Javad Badri, Vice Chairman and CEO of Fanavarn Petrochemical Company and a major stakeholder in the project, elucidated on the project's status and objectives: “The storage tanks, with a combined capacity of 100,000 metric tons (two 50,000-ton tanks), are situated in the southwest corner of the project site within Zone 5 of the Petrochemical Special Economic Zone. These storage tanks are a priority implementation, designed to enhance storage capacity and generate revenue, with the pile-driving ceremony for their construction officially underway.”

Hossein Rafeeqdost, a board member of Fanavaran Petrochemical Company and Deputy Director of Corporate Affairs and Projects, added: “The engineering, procurement, construction, and commissioning (EPCC) contract for the tank construction has been signed. After workshop preparation and the completion of ground reinforcement and excavation operations, the construction phase has now entered the pile-driving stage.”

He further elaborated: “With the commencement of the pile-driving process, dynamic load testing using the PDA method for foundation reinforcement has begun for the methanol storage tanks. Additionally, a successful pile driving test involving ten foundation piles was executed.”
