The facility, located in the Pars Special Economic Energy Zone in
Assaluyeh, is expected to significantly boost Iran's petrochemical output.
In a virtual ceremony attended by Petroleum Minister Javad Owji and
Deputy Petroleum Minister and NPC CEO Morteza Shahmirzaei, the complex
officially commenced operations. The project, initiated in 2016, occupies a
7-hectare site and is set to produce methanol, a key petrochemical product.
The complex requires 1,531 million standard cubic meters of natural
gas and 671 million standard cubic meters of oxygen annually as feedstock. The
Arian Methanol project, executed by the Bakhtar Group, is anticipated to
generate approximately $280 million in foreign currency revenues and create
direct employment for 300 individuals.
This inauguration marks a significant milestone in Iran's ongoing
efforts to enhance its petrochemical industry and leverage domestic
capabilities for economic growth.
