Speaking at the opening ceremony of the 18th International IranPlast Exhibition on Sunday, Shahmirzaei highlighted that PRTC outpaced ist global petrochemical competitors in signing agreements related to licensing, catalyst production, and other knowledge-based services.
„Ninety-five percent of the petrochemical industry’s development has occurred after the Islamic Revolution,“ Shahmirzaei said, noting that before 1979, Iran was heavily reliant on foreign expertise, operating just five petrochemical complexes.
He credited the post-revolution transformation to the determination of government officials and domestic specialists, noting that Iran’s petrochemical sector has made significant strides in recent years, particularly in reducing reliance on foreign technology. However, he acknowledged that certain areas, especially technical expertise, still require further localization.
Shahmirzaei stressed the importance of added value creation in line with the directives of Iran’s Supreme Leader, noting that the petrochemical industry is advancing rapidly with the support of domestic professionals. He also reaffirmed Iran’s ongoing efforts to indigenize key technologies in the sector.
PRTC’s top ranking in knowledge-based contracts underscores Iran’s growing role in the global petrochemical technology landscape, reflecting the industry’s focus on innovation and self-sufficiency.
