At a contract signing event during the 18th Iranplast International
Exhibition, Shahmirzaei stressed the importance of developing knowledge and
research centers to reduce raw material exports and produce high-value
products. He noted that while good progress has been made in acquiring
knowledge and expertise, further steps are needed to achieve higher scientific
goals.
Shahmirzaei also highlighted technological cooperation in the
Petrochemical Special Economic Zone, aimed at fostering new, knowledge-based
businesses. He noted that this 3,000-hectare expansion will play a pivotal
role in enhancing the petrochemical sector’s value chain and generating
employment.
The strategic role of catalysts in petrochemical production was
emphasized, with Shahmirzaei noting that Iran has achieved the technical
know-how for all essential catalysts. He called for appropriate marketing
to capitalize on this capability.
He further mentioned that over 100 petrochemical projects are
underway across the country, representing a significant opportunity for
universities, research centers, and domestic companies to contribute to the
sector’s growth.
During the event, the C2 hydrogenation catalyst for acetylene
reactors, developed by Amir Kabir Petrochemical Company in collaboration with
the knowledge-based company Exir Novin, was unveiled for the first time in
Iran.
The 18th Iranplast Exhibition, hosting 288 foreign and 525 domestic
companies, runs from September 8 to 11 at the Tehran International Permanent
Fairground.
