Pezeshkian presented the initial section of the budget to the Parliament’s
presiding board after delivering a statement in the parliamentary session.
This submission aligns with Article 182 of the revised parliamentary
procedural code, which mandates that the annual national budget be divided into
two segments for submission: a single-article bill that includes key provisions
for budget implementation, public revenue targets, and financial asset
allocations, along with detailed tables of the budget's figures.
The initial section of the budget must be submitted by October 23 each
year, with the second part due within 10 days following the passage of the
first section.
The Speaker of Parliament, Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, explained that
the budget review process will now commence with a five-day window for an
initial assessment of the draft.
Ghalibaf announced that on October 30, the president will return to
parliament for further discussions on the overall framework of the budget.
After the session, specialized parliamentary committees will select
their members for the Joint Budget Committee, which is tasked with
comprehensive budget review and coordination.
The Joint Budget Committee’s inaugural session will be led by Deputy
Speaker Hamidreza Haji Babaei to expedite the examination process, aiming for a
full parliamentary review of the 2025 budget on October 30.
