NPC Appoints Interim Energy Optimization Chief

TEHRAN (NIPNA) – Iran’s National Petrochemical Company (NPC) has appointed Ali Rabani as acting director for energy optimization, as announced in a decree issued by Hassan Abbaszadeh, deputy petroleum minister and NPC managing director.

In the decree, Abbaszadeh commended Rabani’s commitment, expertise, and extensive experience, expressing confidence in his ability to lead energy efficiency initiatives in the petrochemical sector.

Rabani’s mandate includes:

·         Strategic Planning: Developing and updating strategies, objectives, and policies for energy optimization in the petrochemical industry.

·         Workforce Development: Enhancing the knowledge and expertise of personnel to align with the industry's overarching goals.

·         Energy Efficiency Leadership: Coordinating with headquarters, holdings, projects, and production units to drive energy efficiency initiatives.

·         Value Maximization: Implementing measures to optimize production efficiency and enhance the value chain with an energy management perspective.

·         Energy Culture: Promoting awareness and best practices for energy conservation across the industry.

·         Regulatory Compliance: Ensuring adherence to national and international energy standards in engineering, procurement, and project execution.

·         Monitoring and Evaluation: Supervising energy audits, prioritizing, and executing optimization projects in the sector.

·         Green Initiatives: Planning for the adoption of renewable energy sources and reducing greenhouse gas emissions with the support of research and energy service companies.

·         Collaborative Efforts: Aligning efforts with key energy and carbon management entities and leveraging shared policies within the Ministry of Petroleum.

Rabani is also tasked with identifying energy wastage and implementing corrective measures, including the elimination of gas flaring, while fostering engagement with domestic and international energy-focused startups.

NPC, a central pillar of Iran’s energy sector, has placed significant emphasis on sustainable practices to address energy challenges and environmental concerns. The move underscores the company’s commitment to advancing efficiency and innovation across its operations.
