Iran Mercantile Exchange Trades 150,000 Tons of Polymer, Chemicals

TEHRAN (NIPNA) – The Iran Mercantile Exchange recorded the trade of approximately 150,000 tons of polymer and chemical products last week, comprising 112,788 tons of polymer materials and 36,903 tons of chemical products.

A total of 425,093 tons of oil and petrochemical products were sold across domestic and export markets at the exchange, generating a revenue of 140 trillion rials ($2.8 billion).

The Oil and Petrochemical Hall accounted for significant trade activity, including 135,320 tons of bitumen, 92,000 tons of vacuum bottoms, 24,000 tons of base oil feedstock, 16,600 tons of sulfur, 4,713 tons of oil, 2,054 tons of oil derivatives, 495 tons of waterproofing materials, and 220 tons of gases and feedstocks.

Overall, the physical market at the exchange reported transactions of 2.735 million tons of products valued at 380 trillion rials ($7.6 billion).

The Industrial and Mineral Products Hall led in volume, with 2.306 million tons of goods sold at 230 trillion rials ($4.6 billion). Transactions included 1.038 million tons of cement, 838,000 tons of iron ore, 349,547 tons of steel, 53,000 tons of sponge iron, 14,475 tons of aluminum, 8,320 tons of copper, 5,000 tons of cast iron, and 36 tons of precious metal concentrates.

In the secondary market, 3,573 tons of various goods and products changed hands, generating 1.03 trillion rials ($20 million) in revenue.
