The project, completed in just 14 months with an investment of over 12
trillion rials, is set to supply 5.5 million cubic meters of treated wastewater
annually to the Khorasan Petrochemical Plant, replacing the use of groundwater
resources.
Officials emphasized the dual benefits of addressing the plant’s water
needs while mitigating the environmental challenges of Bojnourd’s wastewater
management.
Saidi, CEO of the Social Security Investment Company (Shasta),
described the initiative as a groundbreaking step toward sustainable industrial
development.
He highlighted the project's potential for expansion in a second
phase, aiming to treat up to 13 million cubic meters of wastewater annually.
Yousef Hasani, CEO of Khorasan Petrochemical Company, elaborated on
the technical aspects of the project during the inauguration ceremony. “This
innovative use of municipal wastewater sets a new standard for water resource
management in the petrochemical industry,” he stated. Hasani also called for
continued governmental support for the company’s ongoing development plans.
The inauguration was attended by prominent national and provincial
figures, including North Khorasan Governor Nouri, Shasta CEO Saidi, representatives
of the Islamic Consultative Assembly, and members of the TAPPICO board of
directors.
The project underscores the Khorasan Petrochemical Company’s
commitment to environmental stewardship and sustainable resource management,
aligning with its corporate social responsibility goals. It stands as a model
for integrating urban wastewater into industrial processes, reducing
environmental impact while ensuring stable water supplies for future
operations.
