TEHRAN (NIPNA) – The National Petrochemical Company (NPC), in collaboration with petrochemical firms, has launched a campaign to reduce gas and electricity consumption by 10% across residential, commercial, and general industrial sectors.

Ali Rabani, Acting Head of Energy Optimization at NPC, announced the start of the initiative following the signing of an agreement between NPC and the National Iranian Gas Company (NIGC) on December 19, 2024. The project will commence on Saturday, January 5, 2025, with the support of NGOs and investing companies.

Rabani explained that a joint committee between NPC and NIGC has been established to address challenges faced by industries impacted by natural gas shortages. The committee has finalized the first phase of project studies, paving the way for operational execution.

Expressing gratitude to the President for urging public participation in reducing household temperatures by two degrees Celsius, Rabani emphasized that the campaign also targets electricity conservation. Incentives, including individual and social rewards, have been planned to encourage public involvement.

Rabani added, “With the valuable support of the Iranian people, energy savings achieved through this campaign will contribute to bolstering production, improving economic conditions, and reducing environmental pollutants.”
