TEHRAN (NIPNA) – Bushehr Petrochemical Company's methanol unit has voluntarily halted production for emergency maintenance, while its gas refinery and RO unit continue stable operations to meet the needs of other petrochemical complexes in Assaluyeh.

According to a statement from Bushehr Petrochemical, the methanol and ASU units began maintenance on January 14 and are expected to resume production within 13 days after completing key repairs. Essential tasks include restoring the refractory wall of the ATR reactor and replacing the primary reformer catalyst in the methanol unit.

Despite the maintenance shutdown, the company’s operational units remain in service, providing vital products to support inter-complex exchanges within the region.

“The continuous production underscores Bushehr’s capacity to manage emergency conditions and sustain regional supply chains,” the company highlighted.

Renewed Commitment to Iranian Catalyst Manufacturers

Bushehr Petrochemical has reinforced its commitment to supporting domestic producers by purchasing primary reformer catalysts from Iran-based manufacturer Naft va Gaz Serv for the second time.

Mehrdad Dinian, the company's site manager, said, “The maintenance period will span 16 days, with meticulous planning and coordination across departments ensuring the smooth execution of operations.”

Dinian emphasized that addressing recent production discrepancies and preparing for increased methanol output as winter ends made this maintenance essential.

“We are proud to be among the first petrochemical companies prioritizing support for local manufacturers. Our continued trust in Iranian catalyst producers demonstrates our commitment to fostering domestic innovation,” Dinian added.

Bushehr Petrochemical’s sustained production during the maintenance period highlights its role as a reliable backbone for regional petrochemical operations.
