According to a report by the public relations department of Bushehr
Petrochemical Company, the methanol and ASU units began scheduled emergency
maintenance on January 15, and production is expected to resume after a 13-day
repair period. During this time, the gas refinery and RO unit will continue to
operate and meet the region’s needs.
Key repairs during this maintenance period include the refurbishment
of the ATR reactor's refractory walls and the replacement of the primary
reformer catalyst in the methanol unit.
Despite the temporary halt in methanol production, Bushehr's gas
refinery and RO units will maintain operations, providing essential supplies to
other petrochemical facilities in the region. This integration demonstrates the
importance of Bushehr's production chain, as well as the company's ability to manage
emergency situations and support regional needs.
Bushehr's capacity to provide continuous supply during such
maintenance periods underscores its role as a reliable backup for other plants
in the Assaluyeh area.
Bushehr Petrochemical Strengthens Support for Iranian Catalyst
Manufacturers
Bushehr Petrochemical has also demonstrated its commitment to
supporting Iranian manufacturers by purchasing primary reformer catalysts from
a domestic supplier.
Mehrdad Dinyan, the managing director of Bushehr Petrochemical,
stated: "This is the second time we have taken a supportive step towards
Iranian catalyst manufacturers by purchasing the primary reformer catalyst. Our
ongoing emergency maintenance operations in the methanol and ASU units are
being carefully coordinated over a 16-day period with extensive planning and
teamwork across various departments."
Dinyan explained that the repairs were necessitated by recent
operational challenges that resulted in lower production capacity. With the
winter season nearing its end, there is potential to increase methanol
production, making this the ideal time to conduct the necessary repairs to
maximize production capacity going forward.
He further emphasized the company’s preparedness for the repairs,
citing the availability of materials, skilled workforce, machinery, and
coordination with external utilities as key factors in ensuring the timely
completion of maintenance.
Dinyan also expressed pride in being one of the first petrochemical
companies in Iran to prioritize supporting local manufacturers, stating:
"We are proud to once again demonstrate our confidence in domestic
suppliers, specifically in purchasing the primary reformer catalyst from the
Oil and Gas Services Company, a domestic producer of such products."
This gesture aligns with Bushehr Petrochemical's ongoing commitment to
fostering local industry and reducing reliance on foreign suppliers.
